Not every wall needs redoing. A wind-torn section of vinyl after a squall, a soft corner board on a Nederland ranch, fascia rotted behind a gutter that overflowed through three storms: these are repairs, they are priced as repairs, and none of them is on the list of work that needs a windstorm certificate. This page is for them.

Window trim, corner boards and the band at the bottom of a wall, face-nailed in the 1950s and soft at the ends. Replaced in wood, PVC or fiber-cement trim, primed on the cuts.
The board the gutter hangs from and the panel under the eave. Rotted fascia is found when a gutter sags; soffit damage is found when squirrels move in.
TWIA's list of work requiring a Certificate of Compliance names “re-siding a significant portion of an exterior wall.” A repair of a few boards or a torn run is not that. A repair that turns into a whole elevation might be, and in Jefferson County the contractor should say so before it grows rather than after. Fascia rot in Beaumont is almost always a drainage story: a gutter that overflows behind itself in a downpour, or a roof with no gutters dripping along the fascia for thirty years. Repairing the board without fixing the water is a repeat visit. The gutters page covers that end, and because the drip edge above the fascia is part of a roof's inspected edge detail, fascia work is easiest scheduled with a re-roof if one is coming.
Usually, if the product line is still made or the contractor can find a close profile and color. Sun-faded vinyl will not match exactly; a repair on a shaded wall shows less.
Not a windstorm inspection; trim and small siding repairs are not on TWIA's list. Whether the City of Beaumont or a Mid-County city wants a permit for a given job is confirmed by the contractor for the specific address; this site does not quote permit rules.
Sometimes. Trim fails first because it is face-nailed and end-grain up. The contractor does the screwdriver test on the bottom courses while there and tells you.
